How Judges Judge: Text, Context, and Pretext

    A conversation featuring
Judges Diane Sykes and David Hamilton of the United States Court of Appeals
    for the Seventh Circuit

As part of our continuing efforts to bring premium programming to our members, the Appellate Lawyers Association is pleased to offer an informative and engaging video CLE program featuring Judges Diane Sykes and David Hamilton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, which was recorded at the Union League Club of Chicago.

The program focuses on how judges judge. Originalism? Textualism? Pragmatism? Judges Sykes and Hamilton discuss their judicial philosophies and provide an in-depth look at the differing ways that judges approach statutory and constitutional interpretation.

Judge Sykes was appointed to the Seventh Circuit in 2004. She was a justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court from 1999 to 2004 and before that served as a trial court judge in Milwaukee County for seven years.

Judge Hamilton has served on the Seventh Circuit since 2009. From 1994 to 2009, he was a judge and the chief judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

For only $25, you can view the program on any device with Internet access (including computer, smart phone, tablet, or TV) anywhere in the world, at your convenience. And you will receive one hour of CLE credit.
